North Carolina Lottery Rules and Laws
The North Carolina Education Lottery is a relatively young system, established in 2005. All its rules are settled by the NC State Lottery Act, and the list includes the following principles:
- Are you planning to purchase your first lottery ticket? Make sure you are 18 or older; otherwise, you can’t participate.
- You can’t pay for your ticket with a credit card, no matter if you play online or make a purchase at an NCEL official retailer.
- When you register for your NC Lottery account, you must provide the last four digits of your social security number to verify your identity.
- If you prefer self-service when purchasing tickets, you can always take advantage of the touch-screen vending machines that you can find in many retail locations.
- If you enter a national lottery with a paper ticket, you must use the playslip taken from the NCEL retailer. The game slips from the other states can’t be accepted.
- You can participate with your friends and relatives as a group of players and then share the prize if you win it.
- The NCEL prizes of $100,000 and over can also be paid off via Electronic Funds Transfer (ETF).
