3 Biggest Lotto! Winners and Jackpots
Though the overall lottery winning odds appear to be fairly high, there are few people who have won first prizes, or there is little information available about them. We know some facts about just two of the winners, and still, the insights are somewhat pure.
For example, on August 20, 2021, someone won $1,4 million, but their identity is unknown. Another case occurred on April 24, 2020, when the prize of $2,1 million was hit. It was claimed by a family trust a couple of weeks before expiring, but still, their names or locations are unknown to the public.
The largest Lotto! jackpot ever won was $26 million. A lucky winner claimed it after the draw on November 1, 2019, but his identity was not revealed.
Winner’s Name and Location | Jackpot | Numbers | Date |
---|---|---|---|
Unknown (the ticket was sold in Danbury) | $26 million | 1 – 9 – 10 – 15 – 41 – 43 | November 1, 2019 |
Unknon | $2,1 million | Unknown | April 24, 2020 |
Unknown (the ticket was sold in Wallingford) | $1.4 million | 2-6-7-16-17-21 | August 20, 2021 |
Lotto! Rules in Connecticut
Lotto! is owned by the Connecticut Lottery Corporation. Its first draw took place in 1983, known as Connecticut Lotto, and with a 6/36 matrix. It became a 6/40 game in 1986, and three years later, the 6/44 matrix replaced the previous one.
In 1998, the lottery was renamed Wild Card Lotto, and the seventh ball for a lower-tier prize was added. This name was dropped after a year, and CT Lottery fans were given the chance to play Classic Lotto.
Classic Lotto’s last draw occurred on March 9, 2013, and the next day it took place as Lotto! Despite all these naming alterations, the game has kept its rules and structure since 1999, and its key features are known to all its fans:
- You should be over 18 if you are going to participate.
- You can play if you are a Connecticut resident only.
- Your prizes are available in four tiers with no multipliers.
- Lotto! draws are held twice a week.
- The tickets are available at the official retailers and lottery terminals.
To win a prize, follow some simple steps:
- Buy your ticket (or tickets).
- Fill in the playslip with 6 numbers chosen between 1 and 44.
- Give the choice to the Quick Pick option if you would like the numbers to be selected at random.
- Wait till the draw ends and then check the results!
You can see your winning results at the CT Lottery’s official site. Besides, our site is always there to keep you informed. We always follow the results of the US lotteries, and you will not miss important information about Mega Millions, Powerball, Cash5, or any other.
Connecticut Lotto! Payout and Taxes
That may sound familiar to most lottery fans, but yeah! Again, you have 180 days to take your winnings. There are several ways to claim depending on the amount you’ve hit.
Prize | How to claim your prize |
---|---|
$1 – $599 | Turn to any Connecticut Lottery retailer or mail it to: CT Lottery Claims Dept. Note that not all the retailers may redeem your prize, so find out whether it is possible at the place where you are going to turn. |
$600 up to $5,000 | Prizes over $600 can be claimed at High-Tier Claim Centers. There are three of them, located in Waterbury, Norwalk, and New London. You can also mail the documents to CT Lottery Headquarters (see the address above). Please note that a photo ID is a must to get your money. |
$5,001 up to $49,999 | Having won a big amount, you have the only way to claim it. Turn to the CT Lottery Headquarters and be ready to have a photo ID with you or mail the documents there. |
Jackpot | Your jackpot is waiting for you at CT Lottery Headquarters, and you should be there in person; there is no mailing allowed for that. The first prize can be paid in full or in 21 equal annual installments. You have 60 days to choose this option. |
