For SuperLotto Plus players, CSL offers a Second Chance to win an extra $15,000 with the same ticket every week. All you need to do is register on the official lottery site, log in, and submit 2nd Chance codes to your account. You can also do this in your mobile app.
You will be provided with the code for a 2nd Chance entry every time you buy a ticket. SuperLotto Plus Rules in California
SuperLotto Plus is one of the oldest California State Lottery games, which started in 1986, right after the year CSL was founded. Still, it remains one of the most popular lotteries as the rules are simple, the winning odds are rather high, and the prizes are impressive.
The key features of SuperLotto Plus are:
- You can participate only if you are 18 or older, according to California law.
- It is an in-house game, so you can only play it if you are in California.
- It is a simple lottery with a 5/47 matrix and the numbers selected in a row.
- SuperLotto Plus tickets are offered at local retailers and are never sold online. For online purchasing, you could choose another lottery from our list of popular lottery sites.
- State tax on lottery winnings is not paid here, so you get a bigger total amount of your prize.
Now, it’s time to learn more about the rules of the lottery:
- Select five numbers ranging from 1 to 47. Turn to the Quick Pick option if you want them to be selected randomly by the computer.
- Pick one Mega Ball number between 1 and 27.
- Mark Advance play if you are planning some consecutive draws.
- Submit your 2nd Chance codes in the mobile app or in your account for extra prizes.
- Wait for drawing time!
The California State Lottery offers several ways of following the results. That may be their official site, the mobile app, or a local retailer’s point of sale. You may also visit our site to see the winning numbers and the latest lottery news.
California SuperLotto Plus Payout and Taxes
Stick to a 180-day period for claiming your SuperLotto Plus lottery prize. This procedure is rather common, but if you don’t know much about it at the moment, our instructions will definitely come in handy.
Prize | How to claim my winnings |
---|---|
$1 – $599 | For your prizes under $600, visit the lottery retailer where your ticket was purchased or turn to your local CSL district office. All the offices are open Monday through Friday, and you don’t need an appointment to come there. Mailing your ticket together with the completed claim form is another good option. Send it to the California Lottery, 730 North 10th Street, Sacramento, CA 95811. |
$600+ | You should visit your local California Lottery District Office and have your ticket and claim form with you to get your winnings. Note that the form will be different for group winners, so choose the right one. Besides, CSL also redeems prizes if the documents are mailed. |
Jackpot | You are to appear at the local California Lottery District Office with all the documents mentioned above. You can’t send them by mail. Note that you have just 60 days to decide how you will get your prize. That may be a lump sum or a 30-payment graduated annuity flow. |
2nd Chance | To claim your 2nd Chance winnings, do the following:
|
Lottery players in California do not pay direct taxation for SuperLotto Plus winnings. However, state taxation is 24%–30% because residents must declare lottery winnings as income. Apply the lottery tax calculator to know how much you will get as a lump sum or with annuity payments.
