Lotto 6/42 is the first game of chance introduced by the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office, a special division of the Office of the President. It was first launched on March 8, 1995, as a Luzon-only game, with Tuesday draws and the jackpot starting at PHP 3 million. The lottery gained enormous popularity, and this is why it was expanded to Visayas and Mindanao on June 15, 1996. A bit later, new draws were added, and the basic grand prize was raised to the present amount. Today, the following rules are set for Lotto 6/42:
- Only players 18 and older can enter Lotto 6/42, as well as any other PCSO game of chance.
