Lotteries in the Philippines are provided by the Philippine Charity Sweepstake Office (PCSO), a special division belonging to the Office of the President. It was established in 1934 to collect funds to improve social welfare on the territory of the state; however, it is still based on the strict rules that must be applied to all the games of chance on its territory:
- Documentary Stamp Tax of 20% is included in any ticket price, so you pay taxes even at the moment of your entry.
- All the PCSO outlets must keep the same working hours. They open at 7 a.m. PhST and close at 8 p.m. PhST.
- Big prizes are paid out in checks here. The encashment is provided by the Philippines National Bank/Land Bank of the Philippines, located near the PCSO Main Office on the Ground Floor, Sun Plaza Building, 1507 Princeton Street, corner Shaw Boulevard, Mandaluyong City, 1552.
- All the lottery balls are checked and weighed before each play for absolute integrity.
